India is a land of pilgrimage. Yet, there are no dedicated rooms at these sites for mothers when travelling with their kids.

Culture Minister Prahlad Patel on Thursday said that many tourist places of the country have no basic facilities for mothers who travel with their children.

He said that many children were travelling with their mothers to tourist places each year. Yet, several of them didn’t even have basic facilities which cause a lot of inconvenience.

The minister said that now these sites would have a dedicated room for mothers going there with kids. This room will have all the essential facilities including a toilet to help mothers.

The minister recently launched one such room with all necessary facilities at Taj Mahal.

The culture ministry identified 17 sites at present.

The minister said that the soil from the Jallianwala Bagh massacre site was collected in a container to be kept at National Museum.

He said that it took 100 years for the soil from Jallianwala Bagh to reach Delhi. The soil that signifies the martyrdom and sacrifices of the people would be kept at the National Museum.

Those who are unable to go to the place can visit the museum to feel the sacrifice of martyrs.

In this context, the minister said that the passage of an amendment bill on this was a good sign as it was done without any politics.

Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

Meanwhile, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday while speaking in Rajya Sabha said that the government was undertaking several measures to combat air pollution in the national capital region.

It also developed a comprehensive air plan.

He added that a high-level task force had been established to tackle the issues. Regular review meetings had been held on this matter.
