Foods that help remove cholesterol from blood vessels
Cholesterol if accumulated in the body leads to hardening of blood vessels. As a result, they lose their elasticity which results in an increased blood pressure and heart attack. It also causes limited blood flow to heart and other organs.
Cholesterol can be lowered by changing some habits and adding some foods to your diet. Here is a list of foods that help removing cholesterol from your blood vessel.
- Avocado is beneficial for the people who have high cholesterol levels. So, add avocado to your diet to increase your HDL (good fats) and reduce the bad fats (LDL).
- Almonds help prevent the breakdown of LDL and thus stop loss to the blood vessels and heart. So, eat almonds regularly.
- Olive oil, flaxseed, fish and nuts comprise of omega-3 fatty acids. They reduce the amount of triglycerides and cholesterol. Eat these foods at the expense of foods rich in fats that contribute to bad cholesterol (LDL).
- Adding fish such as salmon and tuna, and other foods to your diet twice a week helps reduce cholesterol naturally in your body.
- Fiber rich foods also aid in lowering cholesterol. Hence, consume fruits and vegetables like apricots, grapefruit, mangoes, oranges, turnips, sweet potatoes and asparagus as they contain soluble fiber that helps reduce cholesterol levels in your blood and body.
- Oatmeal is one of the best foods that guards the body against cholesterol. Take one cup of oatmeal as breakfast since it contains around 2 grams of soluble fiber and 4 grams of fiber in whole.
- Blueberries comprise of a very powerful antioxidant. It prevents the loss caused by bad cholesterol.
