CKYC: One registration for seamless financial access
Financial services become easier when identity verification is simple and consistent.
Central Know Your Customer (CKYC) was introduced to make this possible through a single, standardised KYC process.
Instead of submitting the same documents repeatedly, customers complete KYC once.
After verification, the Central KYC Registry stores the information securely.
Consequently, banks, NBFCs, and other regulated institutions can access the verified record whenever required. This approach saves time and reduces unnecessary paperwork.
Every successful registration generates a unique 14-digit CKYC number. This number confirms that your KYC details exist in the central database.
Therefore, financial institutions can retrieve your information without asking for fresh documents each time. As a result, loan applications, account openings, and investment processes become faster and more efficient.
Getting a CKYC number is straightforward. Visit a bank, NBFC, or another financial institution offering CKYC registration.
Next, submit documents such as PAN, Aadhaar, and valid address proof. Complete the required identity verification through OTP, biometrics, or document validation.
After verification, the institution uploads your details to the Central KYC Registry, which generates your CKYC number.
The registry maintains one verified KYC record for each customer. Moreover, it follows strict security standards to protect personal information.
Only authorised financial institutions can access these records, ensuring secure and standardised verification across the financial ecosystem.
Customers can also update their CKYC details whenever necessary. Simply submit the revised documents through your bank or NBFC.
After verification, the updated information becomes available across institutions using the CKYC system.
A CKYC card serves as proof that your KYC is registered centrally. It usually contains your CKYC number, name, date of birth, registered address, and identification details.
Furthermore, customers can download the card after successful authentication through the official CKYC portal or authorised service providers.
CKYC offers several practical advantages. It reduces repeated documentation, minimises verification errors, and speeds up financial onboarding.
Additionally, it creates consistency across multiple institutions while improving customer convenience.
Although registration is generally free, incorrect or incomplete information may delay processing. Therefore, ensure that all submitted documents match your official records.
If issues arise, contact the institution where you initiated the registration, submit corrected documents if needed, and request an update. Regular status tracking helps resolve pending applications quickly.
