India Post announces GDS Vacancies; Applications closing soon

A major government job opportunity is drawing to a close as India Post rolls out its Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026 drive.

The department aims to fill 28,740 vacancies across various postal circles nationwide.

The online application process began on January 31, 2026, and will end on February 14, 2026.

With the deadline approaching, eligible candidates must complete their registration without delay.

The last date for fee payment and final submission is February 16, 2026, while the correction window will remain open from February 18 to 19, 2026.

This recruitment offers positions for Gramin Dak Sevaks across India. Notably, the selection process does not include a written examination.

Instead, authorities will prepare a merit list based solely on Class 10 marks. The merit list will be released circle-wise and category-wise, followed by document verification and final selection.

To be eligible, applicants must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board with Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects.

Additionally, candidates must have studied the local language of the concerned postal circle up to Class 10 level.

The minimum age requirement is 18 years, while the maximum age limit is 40 years as of January 1, 2026. Age relaxation will apply as per the recruitment rules for reserved categories.

Regarding application fees, General and OBC candidates must pay ₹100. However, SC, ST, PH, and all female candidates are exempted from paying any fee.

Payments can be made online through debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS, or mobile wallets.

Interested candidates must apply through the official portal by completing registration, filling out the form carefully, uploading required documents, and submitting the application.
