Good news for school children as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Innovation Award for them.

The CSIR Innovation Award for children will be given as part of the Jigyasa Vigyan Mahotsav 2022.

CSIR organizes the national level scientific creativity competition under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

School children can utilize the opportunity to showcase their innovative abilities and win the award.


Students of classes 1 to 12 from CBSE affiliated schools can register for the competition. Their age should be under 18 years as of 1st January 2022 to apply for this.

The competition is only open to Indian citizens. Applications can be submitted individually or as a team of two to five students, along with write-ups in less than 5,000 words in English or Hindi.

The competition will be in the below-mentioned categories: Health, energy, climate change, water conservation, artificial intelligence, disaster mitigation, and agrotechnology.

Students can showcase their creative abilities in the above fields. They can identify issues, knowledge gaps, challenges, and solutions. They can also create awareness on the identified issue and express their futuristic visions.

Their ideas or solutions can be presented in any of the following formats: Videos, apps, infographics, comics, science fiction, and animation. While sending their presentation, students should not use copyrighted content or artwork or else they will be disqualified.

The top 15 innovations will be given cash awards with a certificate. The first prize is ₹1,00,000. Other cash awards include two second prizes of ₹50,000 each, three third prizes of ₹30,000 each, four fourth prizes of ₹20,000 each, and five fifth prizes of ₹10,000 each.

The best content will be displayed on the CSIR Jigyasa Virtual Lab platform.

The last date for the submission of applications is 30th April 2022. The award will be announced on 26th September 2022. For more details, visit the CSIR website.
