Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacts with self-reliant women through video conferencing. The Atmanirbhar Narishakti se Samvad involves PM Modi’s interaction with women SHG (self-help group) members from all over the country.

The event is promoted under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).

DAY-NRLM aims to provide support to rural and poor SHGs for the long-term in a phased manner. It wants to empower women through awareness campaigns on various issues like sanitation, nutrition, domestic violence etc.

There are around four lakh SHGs throughout the country. PM will release capitalisation support funds of ₹1,625 crores to these groups.

PM Modi announced a special economic package under the scheme during the onset of COVID-19. The government took various measures under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. These include reforms for MSME, agriculture and fisheries sectors, employment, farmers, and migrant workers.
