Centre to prepare short movies on work done under HRIDAY
In order to showcase the work done in 12 heritage cities for the last four years, the central government wants to prepare short movies.
These short movies will be prepared with the help of the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC).
NFDC will prepare 12 short movies for each individual city to present the work done in these 12 cities in addition to an overall short movie after the completion of the project under HRIDAY.
12 cities have been selected under the National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY).
These include: Ajmer, Amaravati, Amritsar, Badami, Dwaraka, Gaya, Kanchipuram, Mathura, Puri, Varanasi, Velankanni and Warangal.
HRIDAY aims to create civic, tourism and informational infrastructure around heritage assets to improve the experience of citizens as well as tourists.
A short film will be prepared after the completion of the work in these cities in coordination with NFDC, as per an official.
The scheme is being implemented by the Housing and Urban Affairs ministry. It launched HRIDAY to emphasize the complete development of heritage cities.
The duration of the scheme is four years, which will be finished by November, 2018. However, it is expected to be extended as many projects are ongoing in the proposed cities.
The officials stated that there are 63 projects in total which are being executed. Out of them, 20 projects have already been completed, and 10 to 15 projects are to be completed by October this year.
Some of the infrastructure projects include provision of drinking water stations, street lights, sanitation, drainage, information kiosks, improvement of accessibility to roads and heritage sites, creation of heritage walks etc.
The worth of these projects is ₹500 crore. The government feels that short movies are a good way to communicate the development that has been done to the citizens.
