Maharashtra teacher gets car from parents
Parents in Maharashtra gifted a unique “gurudakshina” to a teacher for her efforts towards her students.
Lalitha Dhumal is a teacher in Zilla Parishad School in Pimple Khalsa village of Shirur taluka for many years.
She coached her students to qualify an annual government scholarship exam. She worked very hard taking extra hours for her students.
She helped them solve previous year question papers and gave proper guidance to qualify in the exam.
Not just Lalitha, but all other teachers in this school are also very industrious.
This scholarship exam takes place in Class V. However, teachers start coaching and preparing them one or two years prior to the exam.
The students are also very enthusiastic in qualifying the exam. Last year, 21 students from the school qualified for the scholarship.
This year 19 students qualified in the exam. The parents of these students pooled funds and gifted Lalitha a car for her efforts.
This is not the first time for the villagers to gift teachers. Earlier, they used to gift a two-wheeler or fridge or other such items.
However, they have been gifting cars to the teachers for the last four years. Here, the parents are very keen about the studies of their children.
They want the students to excel in their studies. Hence, they are taking several steps along with the teachers to improve the quality of education.
They have spent ₹1 crore to upgrade the school in the last few years. However, the estimated budget is around ₹2 crore.
They built a three-storey building and plan to upgrade it to a five-storey building.
Despite having a shortage of funds, this school has initiated e-learning facility. At present, there are 350 students in this school.
Seeing the efforts of teachers and good results from students, several students from surrounding schools also came to this school.
