Boeing, the largest aerospace company in the world, has just announced a partnership with two Indian aerospace companies. This was announced on the second day of the Defense Expo, which is currently being held here in India.

Boeing announced that they would be partnering with PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Mahindra Defense Systems (MDS). Through this partnership, the F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets will be manufactured in India.

HAL is the only company in India that manufactures combat fighters, and MDS is the only company in India that manufactures small commercial airplanes. Therefore, this partnership can bring together just the right people to manufacture the Super Hornet fighter jets in India.

In a statement, Boeing said that the Super Hornet “Make in India” proposal is to build a completely new, state-of-the-art production facility. This can be used for other programs, such as India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (ACMA) program.

Pratyush Kumar, the president of Boeing India, said that this partnership will accelerate a contemporary, 21st century ecosystem for Indian aerospace and defense manufacturing.

Boeing is also one of the leading military aircraft producers that will probably be vying for the deal to supply 110 fighter jets to the Indian Air Force (IAF). Some of the other leading military aircraft producers that will likely vie for this deal are Saab, Dassault, Lockheed Martin, and Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG.

This partnership will be able to benefit India in many ways. It will provide India with a combat-proven and affordable fighter platform. It will also create significant growth in the Indian aerospace ecosystem.

Thus, this partnership will allow for growth in manufacturing, innovation, engineering, and skill development. It will also create many new jobs.

Lastly, this partnership will also give India a carrier and land-based multi-role fighter in the F/A-18 Super Hornet, which is needed for the country’s defense system.

Thanks to Boeing’s new partnership with HAL and MDS, India will have a useful new fighter jet in its arsenal, as well as significant growth and job creation in its aerospace ecosystem.
