NPCI starts UPI Help, AI Assistant to ease digital payment issues

NPCI launches UPI Help, AI Assistant to ease digital payment issues

To enhance user experience and build trust in digital payments, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched ‘UPI Help’.

It is an AI-powered assistant aimed at resolving UPI-related queries and grievances efficiently.

Key Features of ‘UPI Help’:

Instant Help During UPI Transactions


  • If users face issues while making UPI payments, the assistant can guide them in real-time.
  • Whether it’s a failed transaction or confusion about a UPI feature, the AI bot offers quick and reliable support.

Query Resolution on Digital Payments

Users will soon be able to:

  • Check UPI transaction status.
  • Log and track complaints for pending or failed transactions.
  • The AI assistant works under the UDIR (UPI Dispute Resolution) framework, helping share necessary details with issuing banks to speed up dispute resolution.

Manage UPI Mandates

UPI Help allows users to see all active Autopay mandates in a single view, making it easier to manage recurring payments such as subscriptions, EMIs, or utility bills, and providing better control over ongoing financial commitments through one platform.

Grievance Redressal Made Easier

Users can:

  • Log service-related complaints for merchant (P2M) transactions
  • Raise tickets for unknown or incomplete transactions
  • This will reduce user frustration and dependence on manual support from banks or payment platforms.

Availability & Access Points

The assistant will be made available through:

  • Member banks’ customer support channels (website, chatbot, etc.)
  • DigiSaathi chatbot/website
  • Later, through UPI apps via redirection or API integration

UPI Help has been launched as a pilot for a limited group of users. NPCI will monitor its performance and, based on the outcomes, plans to expand its reach gradually through a phased rollout to ensure broader user access.

UPI Help is a significant step in enhancing digital payment experiences, making them more user-friendly, transparent, and responsive, especially as the UPI ecosystem continues to grow rapidly across India.
