India tightens security at key religious and strategic sites

In the wake of paused hostilities between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has launched a comprehensive security review of critical religious and infrastructure sites.

Officials have raised concerns over potential threats from Pakistan-based terror groups aiming to spark communal unrest.

The review, ordered by the Centre, targets key religious monuments such as the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi, Krishna Janmasthan in Mathura, and Mata Vaishnodevi in Jammu.

Security assessments also cover vital infrastructure projects, especially hydropower installations in Jammu and Kashmir, including the Uri and Kishanganga projects near the border.

On Sunday, CRPF Director General GP Singh visited the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He visited the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Dham.

He spoke with temple officials and CRPF staff about security. The forces are checking for any weak points. They are working to fix all security gaps at these important sites.

Moreover, top officials from the CRPF and CISF are coordinating closely with state police and local administrations.

These paramilitary forces guard several of the reviewed installations. The CISF alone secures 11 major facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The security review follows heightened alerts at airports nationwide, especially in cargo areas. CISF personnel are now directly supervising baggage scanning processes.

Officials believe that while diplomatic tensions have eased, the threat from cross-border terror groups persists.

A senior official confirmed that forces across cities and border states, including Delhi and Gujarat, are reassessing their local vulnerabilities. Authorities are on alert for any attempts to disturb peace and stability.

Once the reviews are completed, the Ministry of Home Affairs is expected to convene a meeting to finalise the next steps.

Until then, agencies remain on high alert, prioritising coordination and quick response capabilities.

The government aims to ensure that no opportunity arises for hostile elements to exploit these symbolic and strategic locations.
