Two Indians in Global Citizen Award Finalists
Global Citizen Festival is going to be held on September 27 in Central Park, New York. Two Indians Swapnil Chaturvedi and Anoop Jain have been shortlisted for Global Citizen award for their efforts to improve sanitation facilities and enhance access to toilets in India. The Award of USD 100,000 is presented at the Global Citizen Festival. To achieve this, individuals should meet the criteria of global citizenship, impact, innovation and potential.
PM Narendrda Modi will attend Global Citizen Festival. Besides, a dozen other global leaders will also attend this festival. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Norway Prime Minister Erna Solberg, and Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala are some of them. Hollywood actors Hugh Jackman, Jessica Alba and Katie Holmes will host it.
Four finalists have been shortlisted for this award. The other two finalists are: David Auerbach, the cofounder of ‘Sanergy’ which builds low-cost and high-quality sanitation facilities; and Nargis Shirazi, the founder of Wo-man Foundation. This foundation focuses on improving reproductive health and rights of women in Uganda.
