Nama Nityashri, a young girl from Medak, Telangana, has always harboured a passion for sports and dreams as big as the sky.

With the unwavering support of her constable father, she began training in karate at a young age, quickly proving her talent by participating in numerous competitions across the state.

At just 16 years old, Nityashri achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the gold medal at the International Martial Arts Karate Championship 2024, held at Hyderabad’s Indoor Stadium.

This victory is no small feat. Competing against 3,000 participants from 30 countries, Nityashri emerged as the champion. Her triumph is a testament to her dedication and hard work.


Nityashri is confident about excelling in sports and studies. She aspires to get a government job through the sports quota.

Nityashri strongly believes that learning karate is essential for girls, as it not only boosts self-confidence but also empowers them to face challenges fearlessly.

Her father, Krishna, was overjoyed with his daughter’s success, emphasizing that he encouraged her to learn karate to ensure she could defend herself. He also stressed that karate equips girls with the strength to face any adversity.

Nityashri’s success is also attributed to her dedicated coaches, Nagesh Malluri and Dinakar, who have been training her since she was in the fifth grade.

Their encouragement pushed her to participate in various competitions, leading to victories in places like Goa and Hyderabad.

Recognizing her achievements, officials and public representatives have felicitated Nityashri on multiple occasions.

Many officials including the district’s additional collector applauded Nityashri as a role model for every girl. They also congratulated her for becoming an international karate champion.

Nityashri’s journey is a powerful reminder that regardless of age or profession, people must strive to dream, practice, and persevere. Her story inspires several people to pursue their passions with unwavering determination.
