Feeding hope: How this man is transforming lives in Karimnagar

At Government General Hospital, Karimnagar, many patients and their attendants often struggle to get meals.

Kota Dayanand has dedicated himself to helping them. Because of his commitment, they now receive food regularly and do not have to worry about their next meal.

For nine years, this retired government employee has turned a simple act of kindness into a daily lifeline, providing free meals to those in need.

Under the banner of Varasiddi Vinayaka Seva Samithi, Dayanand and a team of fellow retirees now serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tiffin to 300–500 people each day.

What began as a modest effort to feed a few hungry individuals has grown into a well-organised programme, with a dedicated space provided by the hospital to ensure smooth operations.

The initiative has drawn support from donors who contribute funds and essential supplies, helping sustain the service as demand grows.

Local residents also participate, sponsoring meals on birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions, adding a personal touch to the humanitarian effort.

The beneficiaries experience clear and immediate benefits. Many recipients say that the free meals help ease daily struggles and reduce financial burdens.

Besides providing food, the service brings relief, emotional comfort, and restores dignity to people who are struggling, helping them feel supported during challenging times.

Dayanand said that their motivation was simple yet profound, explaining that their goal was to see happiness and confidence on the faces of hungry people. He added that they would continue the service until their last breath.

His dedication, combined with community support, has transformed a simple act of feeding the needy into a structured, life-changing programme.

Through his example, Dayanand demonstrates how compassion, organisation, and consistency can make a lasting difference, ensuring that even the most vulnerable have access to nourishment, hope, and care when they need it most.
