Chachi Ki Rasoi is a lifeline for Sonbhadra tribal villages
For the impoverished tribal residents of Sonbhadra’s remote villages, where even two meals a day are a luxury, hope arrives on wheels.
This hope is embodied in Chachi Ki Rasoi, a mobile kitchen initiated by 52-year-old Bipin Devi, ensuring no one in these villages goes hungry.
In the underdeveloped regions of Sonbhadra, farming and animal husbandry are the primary livelihoods.
However, poor rainfall and low yields often leave families struggling to meet basic needs.
Moved by the plight of children who sometimes sleep on an empty stomach Bipin Devi and her husband decided to start a system to support them.
Bipin Devi’s husband, Kallu Yadav, owns a grocery store in Rajpur village. The shop sustains their family of four, including their sons Neeraj and Mohit.
Inspired by his wife’s determination to serve, Kallu supported her vision. Two years ago, the family converted their van into a mobile kitchen, delivering meals to six to seven villages regularly.
The kitchen serves a simple yet fulfilling meal of rice, lentils, and vegetables.
Bipin recalls starting this initiative during the pandemic when villagers lacked food and work.
Then she started feeding people which brought her joy. She named it Chachi’s Kitchen to create a bond with the villagers.
Chachi Ki Rasoi now feeds 80-100 people daily, operating 20-25 days a month.
The family spends ₹60,000 monthly on groceries and fuel, a significant part of their income.
Despite the challenges, they continue to prioritize this cause. Once, She burned herself while cooking. But she did not stop her efforts to feed needy people.
Her son Neeraj drives the mobile kitchen to village panchayats like Tilhar, Kotwa, and Rajpur.
The joy among the tribal villagers as the van arrives underscores the impact of this noble effort.
Through Chachi Ki Rasoi, the family exemplifies the power of compassion and selfless service in transforming lives.
