Zomato honours delivery agents with the Gallantry award
Zomato is one of the renowned food delivery companies. Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah founded the company in July 2008.
The original name of Zomato was FoodieBay. The founders renamed it Zomato in 2010.
Zomato services are in many cities across the country.
The company celebrates its annual day with employees, delivery partners, and customers. It announces promotional offers to customers on this occasion. It also honours its delivery agents.
Recently Zomato announced a Gallantry award for a delivery agent for his extraordinary services.
Jithin Vijayan from Kochi, Kerala, is a delivery agent at Zomato. One day he had to deliver late-night food. He drove 12 kilometres to deliver the food in the heavy rain.
After reaching the destination, Jithin realized that the order was for a woman. She was alone with her one-year-old child, who was ill. The woman was in deep distress as nobody was there to bring medicines for the sick child.
Understanding the situation of the woman, Jithin offered his help. His duty was finished after delivering the food. But, he wanted to help the child. So, he drove another 10 kilometres amid the pouring rain to get medicines for the child. Thus, he saved the child.
Knowing the matter from Jithin, Zomato appreciated his kindness and generosity. It shared the incident on LinkedIn and announced a Gallantry award to recognize his efforts and the role played in a critical time.
In this context, the company says that it recognizes and honours all its delivery partners who follow work ethics and serve people beyond the call of duty.
Zomato also recognized Shivaji Balaji Pawar. He was rewarded for Going Above and Beyond.
Pawar, who was born with a polio infection, has a strong determination to play cricket. He will represent the country at the Asia Cup in 2023.
Besides, it honoured the two most consistent partners and the three highest achievers. Zomato rewarded all of them on its 14th anniversary.
The company also announced promotional offers and provided free food to 14 lucky customers.
