Tendulkar’s book to speak in local tongues
Sachin may be retired, but he still continues to break records! Hachette India will co-publish his autobiography, ‘Playing It My Way’, with Marathi, Hindi, Gujarathi, Malayalam, Assamese, Telugu and Bengali publishers.
His book, released on November 6, topped 200,000 copies in orders, already surging ahead of both pre-order and lifetime sales of the top hardbacks — Dan Brown’s “Inferno”, Walter Issacson’s “Steve Jobs” and J K Rowling’s “Casual Vacancy”. It has set a new record for an adult hardback-on-order subscription, that includes the fiction as well as non-fiction categories.
Several publishers have expressed interest in it. Poulomi Chatterjee, Publisher of Hachette India agreed that they had an “overwhelming response” to the launch and will finalise the deals to plan the release in summer, 2015.
