Sachin Tendulkar is the ambassador for ICC world cup 2015
Sachin Tendulkar was announced as the ambassador for ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. This is the second successive time the master blaster was chosen as the ambassador for cricket’s biggest event. He took the role previously in 2011 which was co-hosted by India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
The ICC world cup is the third biggest sporting in the world and the 2015 tournament will take place in Australia and New Zealand from 14 February to 29 March. Tendulkar, as the ambassador, will promote and support the various initiatives that are taken by ICC. His role is to improve the profile of the tournament.
Sachin Tendulkar who retired from international cricket last year after playing in the Indian cricket team in 200 Tests, 463 One Day Internationals now became the ambassador for the prestigious tournament twice in a succession. He had a majestic cricket career of 24 years on the pitch. He is the all-time leading run-getter in World Cup history with 2,278 runs in just 45 matches with an average of 56.95.
The legendary cricket player commented that he is honoured to be appointed as the ambassador for the tournament for the second time successively.
