Zee Media, ASI’s plantation drive at heritage sites
ee Media Corporation Ltd. (ZMCL), India’s largest news network, celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami in a very unique way. In a first of its kind of celebration, ZMCL organised a massive plantation drive in the heritage sites and historically important places like the Qutub Minar, Purana Quila, Red Fort at Delhi, Taj Mahal at Agra, Sanchi Stupa at Madhya Pradesh, Harshwardha Gardens at Kurukshetra, Main Temple at Khajurao and Victory at Time Tower at Chittorgarh.
The drive was kick started from Qutub Minar by deputy superintendent of horticulture Ravindra Kumar. A similar drive was undertaken at Purana Quila and Lal Quila. The drives received a phenomenal response. The plantation drive is part of ZMCL’s 5th edition of its campaign ‘My Earth My Duty’ (MEMD).
The idea is not only to save our environment and mother earth but also to build awareness about preserving our monuments. Individuals must not damage sites by inscribing their names or throwing garbage. These heritage sites, which are our national pride, must be maintained for our future generations. The campaign addresses the degradation of environment and aims to sensitise and encourage people to act against climate change.
The objective this year is to plant at least 10 lakh saplings across the country by people from all walks of life including children, women and senior citizens.
The MEMD campaign is a clarion call for everyone for joining hands to protect our mother earth.
