Haryana government’s steps for women safety
After the horrific rape and murder of a Hyderabad girl, the public, including celebrities, are demanding concrete security measures for the safety of women.
Many MPs also raised this issue in the Parliament saying that there is a need to improve women security measures in the country.
In this context, the Haryana government stepped forward to increase the security of women in the state.
Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij revealed that the government is mulling to provide help to women who travel in the nights.
A late-night drop service would be provided by the police.
The government also asked police officials to be vigilant especially during nights. They are asked to be on high alert to check anti-social activities in the state.
The police had been instructed to conduct proper patrolling during evening and night time.
New PCR vehicles are provided to every police stations and 400 new vehicles would be purchased soon.
To improve the safety of women, the Chandigarh Police is going to start a taxi service for women in distress during the night.
These taxi services would help them if they are stuck outside and cannot find a taxi to reach back to their home or hostel.
Such women can dial 100 to call the PCR. Then, the PCR would send a vehicle to drop the women safely at their place within Chandigarh. The expected time for the police to reach the place is three minutes.
The minister said that Dial 100 scheme would be implemented soon and discussions are going on this on this matter with senior officials.
He said that this initiative was stuck due to some shortfalls. They would be addressed soon and it will begin.
