Traffic curbs and safety measures for final bathing day
Millions of devotees are expected to gather for the final special bathing day on February 26, which coincides with Mahashivratri.
To manage the crowd effectively, authorities in Prayagraj have set up strict traffic regulations.
Vehicle movement has been restricted in the Maha Kumbh Mela area from 4 PM on February 25, and similar restrictions applied to the entire Prayagraj region starting from 6 PM.
However, essential service vehicles, including those for milk, vegetables, medicines, fuel, and emergency services, will be allowed to operate without interruption.
To ensure smooth crowd management, specific ghats have been designated for devotees based on their entry routes.
Pilgrims arriving via the Uttari Jhunsi route are directed to Harishchandra Ghat and Old GT Ghat, while those entering from the Dakshini Jhunsi route should head to Arail Ghat.
Visitors from Pande Kshetra are assigned to Bharadwaj Ghat, Nagavasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, or Hanuman Ghat. Devotees entering the Arail area are advised to take a dip at Arail Ghat.
Authorities are urging pilgrims to use the closest ghats and visit nearby Shiva temples for prayers, in an effort to reduce congestion and ensure an organized flow of devotees.
The Mela Police Administration has emphasized the importance of following these guidelines to help maintain order during the event.
Despite the movement restrictions, government officials, including doctors, police officers, and administrative staff, will have unrestricted access to ensure the smooth running of essential services.
Additionally, pontoon bridges will be managed based on real-time footfall data to regulate crowd density and prevent overcrowding.
Devotees are advised to avoid unnecessary movement and to leave the area promptly after completing their rituals.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, will conclude on February 26. Over 63 crore pilgrims and visitors have attended this sacred event, held once every 12 years.
Authorities urge all attendees to cooperate, follow the guidelines, and help maintain peace during this significant spiritual gathering.
