Tamil Nadu government passed Anti-NEET Bill 2021. Many medical aspirants are committing suicide in desperate conditions after failing to crack this exam.

Yesterday also, a 19-year-old student was found dead in Salem before the examination. After hearing the news, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that his government decided to ban the NEET exam and would bring a bill against it as it became a major issue to many students.

Today, the Tamil Nadu government passed Anti-NEET Bill 2021. This bill seeks a permanent exemption to Tamil Nadu from the NEET exam.

NEET is an all India level entrance examination for undergraduate medical courses. This year, the exam was held on yesterday.

Those who crack this entrance test will get admission to medical colleges. There were many instances where some medical aspirants who did not clear this entrance test committed suicide. Hence, the Tamil Nadu government passed a bill against it.

Tamil Nadu has been opposing the entrance test since its recommendation, saying that the entrance test is not a reasonable method of admission.

Hence the state government passed the Anti-NEET Bill 2021. While passing it, the government said that the bill had been passed to provide equal opportunity to all students and ensure social justice. The government in this context said that the number of applicants for the NEET examination had dropped significantly.

With the passing of this bill, medical aspirants will get admission to undergraduate medical degree courses without the exam. They will be given admission to these courses based on their Class 12 marks or plus marks.

The opposition party, AIADMK, also supported the anti-NEET bill. Before banning the exam in the state, the Tamil Nadu government formed a committee to evaluate the effect of the exam on medical admissions. It also asked for the opinions of people on this exam.
