IITs Get Global Ranks
At some point, every Indian dream is pegged on the Indian Institute of Technology.
This year, that dream became global. IITs have crawled into the international, top-ranked list.
So IITs are now fourth on a list of 50 best entrepreneurial undergraduate institutes in the world! How’s that?
Our ranking is higher than some of the best Ivy League universities, such as Harvard. PitchBook Data, a US-based private equity and venture capital research firm, said that with a total of 264 entrepreneurs, IITians have started 205 companies and raised $3.15 billion together!
Another private leading agency, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), says that the IITs of Delhi, Madras and Bombay figure in the subject-wise ranking. In civil and structural engineering, IIT-M and IIT-B bag the 49th and 50th ranks.
Under the electrical and electronic subjects, IIT-D and IIT-B are 42nd and 489th. For material sciences, the Indian Institute of Science is ranked 46th.
IIT-Guwahati makes it to the 2014 league table of ’100 Under 50′ institutions released by the ‘Times Higher Education’ (THE) magazine here yesterday.
IIT-Kharagpur is among the top 50 annually ranked Asian universities, beating all the other institutes this year.
So what’s in a rank, you might ask. Who cares about ranks anyway?
We do, we do.
