First Sardar Patel National Unity Awards to be announced | Fusion - WeRIndia

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of the country, the central government is going to announce Sardar Patel National Unity Award today.

October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas every year.

Last year, in December, PM Modi announced a national award in the name of Sardar Patel.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) notified the institution of the Sardar Patel National Unity Award to promote national unity last month.

Individuals or institutions that contribute towards unity and integrity would be bestowed with these awards.

The awards will be given without any discrepancy of caste, religion, gender, age, place of birth and occupation.

Every Indian citizen or organisation that made contributions towards the unity of the country shall be eligible for this award.

The MHA stated on the twitter that the first Sardar Patel National Unity Awards would be announced today.

The National Unity Award is a recognition for outstanding contribution of all individuals and organisations for promoting unity and integrity of the country.

The award is designed in the shape of a lotus leaf. It is made of fine silver and gold. The length of the award is six centimetres and thickness is 4 millimetres. It is six and two centimetres at its greatest breadth.

The obverse of the award would be printed with a replica of the lotus with petals. The award has written ‘Sardar Patel National Unity Award’ in Hindi on it.

It contains the portrait of Sardar Patel in circular shaped gold metal.

The back of the award has the Emblem and motto in Hindi. While the inscription would be gold-covered, the lotus and petals would be made of fine silver and plated with gold.
