Bravehearts of Doda: Four Indian soldiers killed in encounter with terrorists

In a tragic incident, four Indian Army soldiers, including an officer, lost their lives during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Monday.

The fallen soldiers were identified as Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay.

The Indian Army conveyed its condolences through an online post, expressing its deepest condolences to the bravehearts who lost their lives in the encounter with terrorists.

Officials reported that a joint operation by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched in the Desa area of Doda, following specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists.

Contact with the terrorists was established around 9 pm, leading to a heavy firefight. Initial reports indicated injuries to several soldiers, with five critically injured in the encounter.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of the soldiers. He stated that the country stands firmly with the families of the departed soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.

He also assured us that peace would be restored in the region since counter-terrorist operations are underway.

This incident marks the second major attack in the Jammu region within a week. Previously, five soldiers were killed in action in Kathua. In that attack, terrorists targeted two trucks carrying at least 12 troops, using grenades and armour-piercing bullets.

The attack signalled a worrying escalation, with terrorists employing advanced weaponry such as an M4 assault rifle.

Terrorist activities, which initially began in the Poonch and Rajouri districts, have now spread across Jammu.

Over the past 32 months, 48 soldiers have been killed in action in the Jammu region. Reports suggest that over 60 foreign terrorists, trained in jungle warfare, may be operating in the area.

Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the Army to deploy its full spectrum of anti-terrorist capabilities to eliminate terrorism in the Jammu region.

The nation mourns the loss of these brave soldiers and stands united in the fight against terrorism.
