BJP to form government in Karnataka

As expected the Kumaraswamy government in Karnataka lost due to failure in the floor test in the House. While 99 votes favored the ruling government, 105 favored the opposition BJP.

As a result, the Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy resigned to his post after 14 months which was formed with Congress-JDS coalition.

Now, the opposition BJP is preparing to form a government in Karnataka. BS Yeddyurappa will be the next Karnataka Chief Minister after getting the nod from the party’s leadership.

Yeddyurappa will be elected by the legislators as a leader to be appointed as the chief minister which is a formal step.

As per the available reports, Yeddyurappa will meet Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP president, and the party’s working president JP Nadda to discuss on this matter.

If Yeddyurappa is approved to be the chief minister by the BJP leaders, then he will swear-in for the fourth time.

However, he had never completed a term in office. Before the swearing-in ceremony of HD Kumaraswamy, Yeddyurappa was in office for just 48 hours and had to quit due to lack of majority votes in the Assembly.

But, this time, the BJP is confident of its supporters. While 105 members favored the BJP and with the support of two Independents, the party is very confident to win the floor test in the Assembly.

Furthermore, the BJP is hoping to get the support of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) member N Mahesh due to his expulsion from the party.

But, some rebels who led to the downfall of the Congress-JDS government have not returned to Bengaluru yet. They said that they don’t want to return to Bengaluru immediately and will wait for some more time.

The Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar issued summons to the rebels, but they asked him four weeks to meet him.
