VLEs can win Royal Enfield Bullet by filing ITR

The due date for filing income tax returns (ITR) for FY 2020-21 is approaching. It is December 31, 2021. As the last date is approaching, several taxpayers are in a hurry to file their ITR. As per the income tax department, nearly 8.7 lakhs had been filed on December 21.

A huge surge has been witnessed in individual ITR filing in December month alone. In the last seven days, 46.77 lakh returns were filed.

To encourage more taxpayers to file their ITRs, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced an offer to VLEs of common service centres (CSC).

CSC plays a vital role in the Digital India Programme. The CSC operator or village level entrepreneur (VLE) is the main stakeholder of the CSC.VLEs will be able to deliver both government and non-government services to users.


Now, to boost ITR filing through their centres, the Ministry announced an offer to VLEs.

VLEs who finish 1000 income tax returns by December 31 will get a chance to win Royal Enfield Bullet. Besides, they can also win commissions of up to one lakh rupees.

CSC expects to file income tax returns of more than 25 lakh people for FY 2020-21 through its centres. Nearly 75,000 centres are readied to offer ITR filing services in various parts of the country. More centres have been set up in urban and semi-urban areas.

So, to encourage VLEs to file more income tax returns through their centres, this offer was announced. Anyone who wants to file their ITR can visit the CSC with all information related to sources of income and their bank account number. They can also carry their PAN and Aaddhar cards along with them.

All these details are necessary for the filing of ITR. VLEs enrol their details on the income tax website. Taxpayers can leave after providing all relevant details to VLEs. They will be called if any additional details are required. The filing of ITR will be finished within a week. After that, it is e-verified through Aadhaar OTP or any other chosen method by the taxpayer. The taxpayers will receive acknowledgement for their ITR in their email.
