Recently, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) launched the Arogya Rakshak policy to provide financial support in times of health emergencies.

This policy is different from regular health insurance policies that offer the actual cost incurred on treatment. Arogya Rakshak policy offers a lump sum benefit to policyholders regardless of actual medical costs.

Here are some important features of Arogya Rakshak Health insurance:

• Arogya Rakshak Health insurance policy is non-linked and non-participating.
• It offers fixed benefit health insurance cover against certain listed health risks.
• Any individual can take the policy for himself/herself and their family members.
• An individual and all their family members like spouse, children, and parents can be insured under one policy.
• It covers the spouse or parents of the insured aged between 18 years to 65 years and children aged between 91 days to 20 years. For adults, the coverage is available up to 80 years. Children are covered up to 25 years.

Here are the benefits of the policy:

• The policyholder has a flexible premium payment option with flexible benefit restrictions.
• Arogya Rakshak health insurance policy has an Auto Step Up feature to increase the health cover automatically. It also has no claim benefit.
• The policy offers protection against hospitalization and surgery.
• Ambulance and health check-up benefits are available.
• It offers optional riders under the plan. These are the New Term Assurance Rider and Accidental Benefit Rider of LIC.
• Premium waiver is available for other insured members if more than one member is covered under the policy, in the event of the death of the original principal insured.
• Premium waiver benefit is also available for one year if any insured member undergoes surgery falling under Category I or Category II.
