RBI Grade B 2026: A gateway to India’s central banking elite
India’s most sought-after banking exam is back, opening doors to a prestigious career in the central bank.
The Reserve Bank of India has released the RBI Grade B 2026 notification, announcing 60 vacancies across General, DEPR, and DSIM streams.
The application process began on 29 April and will continue until 20 May 2026.
This exam remains one of the toughest competitive tests in the country. It offers a high-profile role along with an attractive gross salary of ₹1,54,936.
Moreover, selected candidates get to work at the core of India’s financial system. The recruitment process includes three stages: Preliminary exam, Mains exam, and Interview.
This year, the number of vacancies has dropped compared to previous years. However, competition is expected to remain intense. The General stream accounts for 40 posts, while DEPR and DSIM offer 10 positions each. Candidates must meet strict eligibility criteria.
For the General post, a graduation with 60% marks or post-graduation with 55% is required. Meanwhile, specialised roles demand master’s degrees in economics, statistics, or related fields.
The age limit is set between 21 and 30 years as of 1 April 2026. Relaxations apply to reserved categories.
Additionally, candidates from the General category can attempt the exam up to six times, while others have no fixed attempt limit within the age cap.
The exam schedule is already out. Phase I will be held on 13 and 14 June, followed by Phase II on 25 and 26 July 2026.
The preliminary exam serves as a screening test. It includes sections like reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English, and general awareness.
On the other hand, the Mains exam combines objective and descriptive papers, focusing on economics, finance, and writing skills.
Applicants must complete the online registration through the official RBI website. The application fee stands at ₹850 for General and OBC candidates, while SC/ST/PwD applicants pay ₹100.
RBI Grade B 2026 offers a rare opportunity for aspirants aiming for a stable and influential career. With limited seats and high rewards, early preparation will be crucial for success.
