North East Festival | Fusion - WeRIndia

North East region of India comprises of eight states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Even though they have a vast potential for tourism, several issues are discouraging the development of this region to the desired level. To fill this gap, North India Festival came into force.

North East Festival is intended to connect people and create awareness about North East India. It boosts tourism as well. For the last two years this festival is being organised in IGNCA, Janpath, New Delhi which grabbed the attention of several tourists and media.

This year, it is being organised in October. North East Festival Football Cup was held at Jawharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi during October 9 to 15, 2015. The Competition got support from Ministry of Sports, Government of India.

Another major event is North East Festival Carnival. It is going to be held from October 16 to 18, 2015 at IGNCA, Janpath, New Delhi. This colourful event has numerous dance forms of North East and folk music. The event is mainly dedicated for fabulous music on all days. Popular rock musicians of the regions will perform in the event. Participants can enjoy the taste of North Eastern foods too. Furthermore, various exhibitions are held in this event. These include: Agro & Horti Exhibition, Handloom & Handicraft Exhibition, Exhibition of various tribes of North East, Freedom Fighters etc. There are vibrant fashion shows and customary sports as well.

The festival is being held by the support of North Eastern States, MHA, IGNCA and Government of India. Entry is free for all. It begins at 11 AM and ends by 10.30 PM.
