PM Modi virtually will attend Grih Pravesh of PMAY beneficiaries | Fusion - WeRIndia

Housewarming, or Grih Pravesh, is performed on an individual’s first entry into his new home. The government of India initiated Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to provide housing to all people in the country.

Soon, around 4.5 lakh people will get their own houses under the PMAY in Madhya Pradesh.

As Diwali is around the corner, the Madhya Pradesh government decided to help them get their own houses.

The housewarming ceremony of these houses will be done on October 22 at the BTI Ground in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. In addition, many programmes also will be held across the district.

October 22 is Dhanteras. Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated for five days.

The festival begins on Dhanteras. Dhanteras is considered one of the most auspicious days. People start new ventures and buy gold and other precious things on this day.

Hence, the state government decided to conduct the event on this auspicious day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the event virtually. He will also interact with some of the beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that preparations are going on for the event. He said that the number of houses built with the support of the government has increased in the state in recent days.

Chouhan says around one lakh houses have been constructed per month under the PMAY. The number was only 25,000 houses per month in the past. The government disbursed ₹10,000 crores for the housing scheme.

He asked all the beneficiaries to make the event a grand success and memorable. He also asked them to draw rangolis and light diyas.

Many labourers were given the training to construct houses under the PMAY scheme. As per some officials, around 51,000 were trained for this purpose. Nearly 9,000 women were also part of them.
