Amazon’s all-women delivery stations in India
Amazon, one of the largest eCommerce retailers in India, recently launched an all-women partner delivery station in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, to empower women.
It is Amazon’s seventh women-only partner delivery station in India and the second such station in Andhra Pradesh.
Amazon’s first all-women delivery station in Andhra Pradesh was launched in Piduguralla in 2021.
The other five all-women delivery stations of Amazon are in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Mizoram, and Kerala. While the first three states have each one delivery station, Kerala has two stations.
The Rajahmundry delivery station is the largest all-women delivery station of the company in the country. The station will provide job opportunities to 50 women.
Amazon says that the intention behind launching all-women delivery stations is to provide growth opportunities for women and improve their role in the logistics sector. The company also wants to uplift them financially by creating opportunities for that.
Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program is a last-mile delivery model. As part of this program, the company partners with small and medium-sized businesses for the delivery of packages to its customers.
It is a win-win situation for both. Small and medium-sized businesses can start their entrepreneurial journey with Amazon. At the same time, the company can reach more people by amplifying its delivery stations. Besides, it ensures hassle-free delivery to end-users.
Amazon is not the only company that has provided job opportunities to women. Food delivery company Zomato also took various steps to increase the participation of women in the company. The company decided to create more opportunities for women delivery partners.
Zomato set goals to increase the participation of women delivery in various cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune. Also, it took some initiatives for their safety, like providing self-defense training to women. In addition, it wants to change its policies to attract and retain more women to work with them.
