The story of Bhanwarlal Ragunath Doshi is making news everywhere. He is known as the plastic king and Delhi’s millionaire. He became famous for his decision of leaving behind 600 crores of Business Empire to become a Jain monk. Read on to find out more about him.

He said goodbye to his luxurious life and went after asceticism to become a monk in an extravagant affair at Ahmedabad Education Society, under discipleship of Jain Acharya, Shri Gunratna Surishwarji Maharaj on Sunday, May 31. Now, he is the 108th disciple of the Acharya.

The ceremony of Diksh (consecration) lasted till three days. The venue of the ceremony was built with a theme of a ‘Samyam Jahaj”. 1, 50,000 people attended the lavish send-off and 500 hotel rooms were booked to accommodate the guests.

The ceremony was followed by a procession of 7 kilometers in which 1000 monks, chariots, elephants, camel carts and musicians participated.

The cost of the lavish event was around a billion and was attended even by Top industrialist Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani.

Doshi has three children (two sons and a daughter). He wanted to become a monk since 1980s, when he acquainted himself with the Jain verses on spirituality. Finally in 2015, he succeeded in convincing his family.
