Pak must stop Terror: Sushma
In order to establish peace between India and Pakistan, the latter should stop terrorism, says Sushma Swaraj, the Minister of External Affairs.
Though the move of initiation on Kartarpur corridor by Pakistan is welcomed, India will not engage in bilateral talks with Pakistan until and unless it stops its terrorist activities.
Sushma Swaraj says that Kartarpur corridor and bilateral talks are two different things.
She expressed her happiness that Pakistan has responded positively for the first time to India’s continuous requests on Kartarpur for the last 20 years.
At the same time, a senior journalist was shot dead in the terror acts of Pak. Hence, Pakistan should stop such acts for the establishment of peace between both the countries.
Earlier, in this week Indian Vice President Venkaiah Nadiu laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Kartarpur corridor.
Yesterday, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan laid foundation stone of the Kartarpur corridor.
Though Sushma was invited to the event, she expressed she could not attend it.
Union ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri, and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu attended the event.
The Kartarpur Corridor facilitates the visa-free travel of Indian Sikh pilgrims to Gurdwara Darbar Dev in Kartarpur. This corridor is expected to be completed within six months.
The Kartarpur corridor is the final resting place of Guru Nanak Sahib. It is located across the river Ravi, for about four kilometers.
Gurdwara Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur is built at the resting place of Guru Nanak three kilometers from the Indian-Pakistan border.
Guru Nanak Dev spent his last life here for 18 years until his death. Yet, Indians could not visit the shrine.
The Kartarpur corridor would allow devotees to visit the shrine and return in a day without a visa.
