India’s culture is famously ancient, and the country is filled with temples, monuments, sites of historical heritage, and many other mysterious places.

Many of these places are also known for their frightening nature, be it a lake full of skeletons, a bird suicide lake, or a city that is even declared to be legally haunted, which prohibits people from even entering it after 6:00 p.m.

These are some of the scariest places in India that should definitely be avoided at all costs.

In the Brij Raj Bhavan Palace, guards are known to be slapped by a ghost. The palace is ancient, and a harmless ghost resides there. This is believed to be the ghost of Major Burton, who was serving as the British resident in Kota in 1857, the year when he was murdered. The ghost of this major is said to have been haunting the palace for 178 years, and he has supposedly slapped many guards who are on duty.

The Markonahalli Dam is also known for its infamously frightening mysteries. Bikes who have passed along the dam have been stopped altogether, supposedly by the spirit of an old woman who was buried there. Many bikers say that they have had to drag their bikes to Bangalore in order to get them to work.

The city of Bhangarh in Rajasthan is officially declared to be the most haunted place in India, and no one is allowed to enter the city before sunrise and after sunset. Anyone who tries to enter the city at night never returns.

A tale tells that a magician cursed the town a long time ago, and people have often witnessed unusual activities happening there. However, ironically, this mysterious nature has made it a popular tourist destination.

D’Souza Chawl in Mahim is known for the strange things that happen there. Supposedly, a woman fell into the water there and died while crying for help.

Therefore, many people have witnessed a ghostly feeling near the well and around the Chawl.
