Lakhpati Didi Yojana empowering women
The Lakhpati Didi Yojana (LDY), launched on December 23, 2023, is a transformative initiative aimed at empowering women from rural India.
By targeting members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), the scheme seeks to equip them with the skills and resources needed to achieve an annual income of at least ₹1 lakh.
With the Union Budget 2024 setting an ambitious goal of creating 3 crore Lakhpati Didis nationwide, the scheme has the potential to significantly impact the socio-economic landscape of rural India.
The scheme is a collaboration between the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) and NABARD.
The scheme helps women in the following ways:
- Women can access concessional or interest-free loans to start or expand businesses.

- A completed application form
- Identity proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID)
- Address proof (Ration card, utility bill)
- SHG membership certificate
- Income certificate
- Business plan (if applicable)
- Two passport-sized photographs
Application Process:
