Air Orca, India’s first fully autonomous logistics drone
Bon V Aero, an Odisha-based startup, has introduced Air Orca. It is India’s first fully autonomous logistics drone.
Thus the company set a new milestone in the country’s logistics sector.
Launched with support from venture capitalist Tim Draper, Air Orca is designed, developed, and manufactured entirely in India to meet the unique demands of the Indian logistics landscape.
Bon V Aero’s CEO, Satyabrata Sathapathy, expressed the significance of the launch.
He says that the development of Air Orca allows them to address specific logistical needs in the country.
Air Orca is beneficial to both civilian and defence sectors nationwide.
Tim Draper praised the launch, emphasizing Air Orca’s potential for logistics innovation.
He says drones like Air Orca expand flexibility, reliability, and reach for modern logistics. In addition, Air Orca demonstrates a versatile solution.
He adds that this type of drone is an essential tool in disaster management not only in India but also globally.
Air Orca is engineered with advanced autonomous capabilities. It has been built to overcome transportation obstacles, especially in remote or challenging regions.
This drone aims to serve as a vital resource in post-disaster scenarios, delivering essential supplies to affected areas and offering logistical support in emergencies.
Bon V Aero has already set a world record with Air Orca, lifting a 30 kg payload at Umling La in Ladakh, a high-altitude pass at 19,024 feet where helicopters often struggle with similar cargo.
This feat solidifies Air Orca’s effectiveness in high-altitude operations and highlights its application potential across various sectors.
The drone is targeted at a range of logistics needs in various sectors. These include healthcare, e-commerce, military logistics, and disaster management, with ambitions to expand its impact globally.
Air Orca’s deployment represents a significant step forward for India’s logistics sector, showcasing the role of homegrown innovations in tackling diverse logistical challenges.
