Mammootty’s My Tree Challenge is the Latest Hit on Social Media
Being inspired by Ice bucket Challenge, My Tree Challenge was initiated by actor Mammootty in Kerala on 30 August, 2014 to preserve the nature. He requested all his friends from film industry to join in this eco revolution. Now, it is going viral on social media like Facebook causing many people to plant trees and post their pictures to encourage their friends and relatives to take part in this campaign.
Several film stars and celebrities have accepted this challenge. Some of them are: Mahesh Babu, Vijay, Suriya, Vijay, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Nivin Pauly, Aju Varghese, Ranjith Sankar, Aashiq Abu, Rima Kallingal, Sudeep, Ranjini Haridas, Alphonse Putharen and Jude Anthany Joseph. Within a short span of time, around 25,000 trees have been planted in and outside Kerala. Actors Vijay and Suriya have finished their challenge. And Bollywood actor Shah Rukh khan is yet to finish it. The campaign has been spreading like wildfire with schools, colleges and Universities accepting the challenge. Now it is going not just in India, but is also spreading outside India. Mammootty planted a tree in the premises of Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai, on Tuesday evening.
