It is quite common in India for people to park their vehicles on roads especially people who reside in old buildings that have no option to park their vehicles inside the building due to lack of parking space.

In India, many buildings are constructed without having adequate parking facilities.

As a result, people who live in these buildings have to park their vehicles on roads and streets.

This leads to waste of roads which thereby leads to traffic chaos.

The slow moving vehicles on roads also leads to increase in environment pollution.

In order to avoid decongestion on the roads, the central government is mulling registration of new vehicles only after customers provide proof of proper parking space availability.

Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu in an event in New Delhi stated that in future it would be mandatory for all houses to have a provision of toilet and government will give permission to only those structures.

Similarly, without showing the provision of parking space availability no car or vehicle would be registered.

The minister revealed that the discussion is in process with Surface Transport Ministry on these issues.

The discussion is moving towards implementation in future.

Google toilet locator was also launched by the government to help users find toilets in the Delhi-NCR and also in Indore and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

The Delhi-NCR cities include Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida. This is collectively done by the Urban Development Ministry in association with Google and August Communications.

More than 6,200 public toilet locations can be located on Google platform.

These include the toilets in hospitals, bus stations, shopping malls, train and metro stations and petrol pumps.

The minister added that to achieve the status of Open Defecation Free (ODF), cities and towns need to construct toilets and ensure their regular usage.
