After being in the works for eight years, Hyderabad’s new Metro rail system will soon be up and running.

According to the managing director of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (or HMRL), N. V. S. Reddy, all of the major works on the Metro will be completed by the 15th of October, and the rest of the work will be completed by the 1st of November.

K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telengana, has sent a formal invitation letter to Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in the hope that he will be able to come to the inaugural event of the Metro, which will open the 30-kilometer stretch between Nagole and Miyapur.

The Hyderabad Metro will expand over three corridors. In total, this covers a distance of 72 kilometers.

The 30-kilometer stretch that will be operational on the 1st of November will have lines that run between Miyapur and Nagole.

Ameerpet will be the interchange station on the stretch, allowing passengers to go between corridor I and corridor III.

When this interchange station is finished, it will be one of the largest metro stations in all of India, with an area of 200,000 square feet.

The station will be divided into three levels, and it will facilitate both corridors simultaneously. Corridor I will be on a lower level and corridor III will be built on a higher level above it.

The budget of the Hyderabad Metro Rail is about ₹14,132 crore, which makes it the largest project under the PPP (Public Private Partnership) model in the entire country.

Once the Metro is finished and operating, it will be a massive relief to thousands of Hyderabad commuters, who previously had to rely on road transportation.

Now, the new Metro will allow them to use a cheaper, easier, and more time-efficient method of transportation.
