Government’s efforts to make Hindi as official language of UNO

The Indian government has taken several initiatives to improve the reputation of the country globally.

One of the significant achievements of the central government is to get International Yoga Day to be observed on June 22.

It boosted the global reputation of India.

Now, the government is trying to make Hindi as one of the official languages of the United Nations so that the reputation of Hindi will be popularized throughout the world. The Indian government took an initiative on this matter.


It was revealed in Lok Sabha by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in her written reply.

Sushma is undergoing medical treatment due to which she was not present in the House for the past few weeks.

Opposition members are making protests on the blanket ban of higher denomination currency notes in the country.

Sumitra Mahajan started the Question Hour session with the very first question on this topic among huge protests of the opposition members of the House.

At that time, V K Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs was present in the House as well.

The reply of Sushma Swaraj revealed that the government is carrying out its efforts to popularize Hindi globally to get the approval of Hindi as one of the United Nations official languages.

Due to the constant efforts of the Indian government, there is a remarkable achievement of programmes of the UN being broadcasted in Hindi on the UN Radio website.

Sushma Swaraj also stated in her written reply that Indian leaders have delivered statements in Hindi at United Nations in order to promote Indian national language globally.

She said this on several occasions as well.

Her reply also revealed that there was a World Hindi Secretariat that was established in Mauritius in 2008.

The inaugural session of eighth World Hindi Conference was held at the headquarters of the UN and the conference was organized in New York in July 2007.
