Have you ever dropped a soap in a lake or river?

The soap drowns and it is almost impossible to find it.

This is a huge problem for people taking baths in rivers and ponds. C.A. Vincent of Katoor, Trichur, Kerala has noticed this problem and decided to make a soap that would float in the water.

He aimed to solve the troublesome problem of losing soaps. He tried to create a new kind of soap whose density is lighter than that of water.

He conducted experiments for about 14 years to develop a unique process which would enable him to create soaps that have lighter density than that of water.

The soap is made from Sodium Hydroxide and coconut oil/vegetable oil.

The composition of the soap is kept the same as regular soaps. However the process of making the soap is modified such that the density of soap is maintained at 0.873 g/cm3.

This soaps is less acidic than traditional soaps which makes it retain the natural oils of skin. In the making of the soap, no animal fat or synthetic chemical are used.

The soap also dries very fast after removal from water when compared to traditional soaps.
